Edmonton, AB – September 2025 — Heartland Sulphur today announced significant operational enhancements following the successful de-bottlenecking of its crushed-bulk re-melting operations. The improvement increased the company’s capacity to re-melt Canadian Oil Sands crushed bulk sulphur by 40%, marking a major step forward in service capability and efficiency.
Building on this momentum, Heartland has completed a full feasibility study and engaged engineering partners to advance the next phase of growth: an additional 1,000 tons per day of sulphur re-melt capacity. This expanded capacity is expected to be fully operational by year-end 2026.
“Expanding our re-melt capability reinforces our commitment to being the most reliable and flexible sulphur-handling facility in Western Canada,” said a Heartland Sulphur spokesperson. “These investments ensure we continue to meet the evolving needs of our partners across North America and global markets.”
Heartland Sulphur currently offers:
· 4,500 tons per day of sulphur forming capacity for offshore markets,
· The ability to transport molten sulphur via tank cars to North American destinations, and
· The capability to receive and condition both molten and solid sulphur.
With these combined capabilities, Heartland remains uniquely positioned to efficiently connect Northern Alberta’s sulphur to global buyers. The forthcoming re-melt expansion further solidifies this strategic role as the industry adapts to shifting supply chains.
